card-skill

Your agent answers with cards. You judge each one.

A skill for coding agents such as Claude Code. The agent lays its answer out as a board: one claim per card, at most one ask. Your reply goes back as data, one line per card.

A live sample. Answer it; nothing is sent or kept.A live sample. Start with the tab "6 Choose".
  1. Open the ask: the tab "6 Choose". The agent's pick is marked Suggested. It counts only if you choose it.
  2. Pick the espresso machine, not the suggestion. Card 7 was written for the batch brewer, so it goes on hold.
  3. Press Send. The text you get is the whole reply, as the agent reads it.
  4. Then press Desk. The same cards on a table, with a line for each link between them.

What the agent writes

Card 6 of the sample, as it stands in board.org. Plain Org mode: the heading is the claim, the drawer says what the card asks, the checkboxes are the options.

** Pick the batch brewer, unless espresso matters to the team
:PROPERTIES:
:CUSTOM_ID: pick-machine
:ASK: choose
:END:
It covers the rush and keeps the cleanup rule, at the lowest cost a year. Only you know how much the team wants espresso; a machine nobody likes is money gone.

What you see

The same card on the page. The tab says it waits on you. The agent's pick is marked, and counts only if you choose it.

Card 6 of the sample: a yellow-red tab that says Choose, three options, the first marked Suggested

What the agent reads

One line per card. This is what the sample sends after you pick the espresso machine. Press Send in the sample above, and your own reply takes its place.

#6 pick-machine choose changed: espresso (you suggested batch)
#7 order approve held: #6 changed from your suggestion; this ask was written for the suggestion. Ask again.
#3 batch mark more (go deeper)

Three more things a card does

A changed card says so, and keeps what it said before

The agent revises a card instead of writing a new answer. The card keeps its number, gets a version, and shows its earlier versions struck through. An answer you gave to an old version is flagged, not reused.

Card 13 of this project's design review, at its fifth version.

A card marked v5, with four earlier versions of its claim struck through under it

A card draws what it talks about

The agent writes which thing leads to which; the page draws the boxes and the arrows. A screenshot or twenty lines of a file go into the card the same way, inside the one HTML file.

Card 11 of the same board: the two ways a reply gets back to the agent.

A card with a drawn figure: Send leads to a served page or a file page, and both lead to the agent

A drawing can be a card of its own, with the cards pinned on it

When several cards talk about one drawing, the agent makes it a sheet: the drawing at the size it needs, first in its section. Each card about a part of it is pinned there, and the part shows the card's number. Click the number to go to the card.

Card 1 of the sample above: cards 3 and 4 are pinned on the hour of the rush.

A line chart of cups an hour as a card of its own; at the peak at 9, the numbers 3 and 4 of the two machine cards

Boards you can open

4

Two are this project's own working boards. Two are the sample, in English and in Chinese. On each, Send shows the reply and sends nothing.

Install

# 1. Install the skill. A real copy, not a link.
git clone https://github.com/lroolle/card-skill
cd card-skill && make install

# 2. See a board without an agent.
node skill/bin/cards.mjs render design-review
node skill/bin/cards.mjs serve

Then ask for something that ends in a decision:

Compare three coffee machines for the team and let me pick. Answer with cards.

The skill tells the agent when a board is earned and when prose is better. Most answers should stay prose.

Node 18 or later. No dependencies. make install copies the skill into ~/.claude/skills for Claude Code and ~/.agents/skills for Codex. To update: git pull && make install. node ~/.claude/skills/card-skill/bin/cards.mjs --version says which build you have.

What it does not do
